The main element of this piece is felt, which is made using the wet moulding technique without any stitching, needles or thread. The wire is pierced into and through the felt and various objects inserted and moulded into the wool.
The figure is based on the pre-historic cave carving that was recorded by Laszlo Kunkovacs, similarly to the piece: Human-God.
In this work piece, the pattern is lifted out and removed from the background, hanging in front of it, held by wire. In the exhibition space, the light coming from the front dropped a dislocated shadow back on the background felt piece.
Various modern objects (mirror, syringe, credit card etc.) are moulded into an additional piece of felt by using the wet felting technique. To sew it on, in the bottom right corner, red-colour yarn was used with various length stitches.
As it was hanging from the ceiling in one of the most interesting rooms of the exhibition space, the light coming from the back shined through the holes of the missing pattern, crashing into the pattern itself hanging before the background piece, and projecting a shadow on the wall - enhanced by the scattered motifs of old paint marks and patchy wall paper.
Are we losing ourselves in the sea of commodities?
Do we fit this new world we have created?
