My name is Edit Olah.
I was born in Hungary. I am currently based in London.
In my art project 'Can you see yourself?', I attempt to generate an internal conversation about the effects that our past has on our present and future.
My art works offer a glimpse into feelings generated by memories.
The project ‘Can you see yourself?’ came from a decision I made to try to understand my memories, my experiences and their effect on my life. I want to understand how the way we deal with the emotions rooting in our past transforms us and influences our present and future.
I hope that the pieces help the viewer to find and connect to their own experiences, to engage with their own story.
I would like the audience to connect to the universal meaning and message that is present in the work. I would like the audience to find their own signs, prompting them to change whatever their situation and their future require.'
My multimedia installations combine ancient materials and techniques - like wool, felt, copper and printing - with moving image accompanied by her own spoken word and singing.
The circle of forms and media I am using has been expanding. I am exploring ways of combining photography, writing, graphics, animation, moving image, felting, sewing, sculpture and installation... and the list is growing.
