Made using the wet moulding technique of felting, out of 2 different coloured wools.
The figure is based on the pre-historic cave carving that was recorded by Laszlo Kunkovacs (a Hungarian photographer and philosopher) in South Kazakhstan in the 1990s.
In his book he says:
‘According to the manufacturers of idle fancy, these are creatures from the cosmos, wearing space helmets with antennae. They are wrong: the cosmic creatures are none other than ourselves. We might still carry the glowing spots, circles and rays around our heads, only we no longer know how to see them.’
(Kunkovacs, Laszlo, Shaman Power (Hungary, Masszi Lap- es Konyvkiado Kft., 2006) p44-46)
Laszlo Kunkovacs's interpretation of this pre-historic cave carving pattern inspired me to attempt to rediscover long-forgotten capabilities and ideas about the essence of human kind.
I chose the God-Man, or as I like to call it, the Human-God as the main symbol for my project, to emphasise that we are all cosmic creative beings with an abundance of abilities and amazing thoughts in our head, and that it is our choice how we use our gift.
