Prologue

2011: Coarse scrim, wool, yarn, paper

Each letter individually stitched onto the triple layer of coarse scrim, wool and paper.

‘I am something everyone is trying to deny and hide. They try to shut me out, up and away deep inside them. But I am here. And if they are not letting me free I am going to eat them up slowly from the inside. It’s like a coming out party where everyone feels a little awkward. It’s good to emerge from the dark and face my architect. I am downy and cold. I am solid and warm. I am relevant and ancient. I am a cosmic archetype. I am hung up, I am projected, I am sung. Yes, I exist. Look me in the eye and tell me:

Can you see yourself?’
