2011: Felt, wire, copper pipes

The felt sculptures (made using the wet moulding technique) are held in the copper pipe frames by wire pierced through them.

‘Layers’ is a combination between an installation and a sculpture with the same three characters from ‘The Bond’. Each figure is made of felt and presented in copper pipe frames hanging from the ceiling. The figures are held by copper wire in the frames.

I wanted the audience to feel invited to interact with this work piece. I wanted them to be able to walk between the planes, and the work piece to be big enough for the viewer to feel that they entered (or perhaps intruded on) this captured moment.

The 3 figures are the fundamental components of all events when abuse and violence happens.

Most of us can find in our memories faces that match this ‘cast’.
