2011: Wool and wire - Installation

According to a Greek myth Ariadne aided her half-brother Theseus in overcoming the Minotaur by giving him a ball of woollen thread to navigate the Cretan labyrinth allowing him to retrace his path after killing the "Bull of Minos" - a monster (or a god?).

The term, Ariadne’s thread, is also a term used to describe an algorithm, the solving of a problem with multiple apparent means of proceeding. The method is used to trace a series of found truths in a contingent. The process can take the form of a mental record, a physical marking, or a philosophical debate.

In Shoreditch Town Hall's basement Ariadne's thread guided the viewers in the labyrinth of rooms and corridors of the exhibition space, and in the labyrinth of their own memories. Click here for more details on the exhibition.
